The project

We were approached by our client to take their proof-of-concept design and in a very short timescale develop prototypes ready for customer validation trials. The concept involved adding a modem and sensor to a live trapping cage to detect, and report, when a door falls (i.e. trap activated).

Additionally, the unit was to be battery powered for hourly reports along with a weatherproof enclosure for outdoor deployment. Our design offered a number of improvements over the proof-of-concept including more robust wireless communication to the server, an improved user interface, and more reliable sensing method.

  • Good coverage and battery life performance
  • Ease of operation and set up
  • Robust design
  • Rapid program delivery
  • Expert antenna design and careful power management techniques
  • Simple and clear user interface design
  • High reliability trigger mechanism
  • Structured program design and rapid turnaround prototyping techniques
