During our time at ASH we have worked together as interns on designing a Programmable Waveform Generator. This internship has given us the opportunity to develop our electronics and programming skills to the point of developing an embedded system, a custom PCB with s, microcontroller firmware and a PC utility to program the device. We would like to thank ASH for this internship, we have learnt a huge amount and really enjoyed our time with the company.

The application of continuous testing throughout the development phase can highlight issues early, when the cost to correct them is low. The final verification of devices usually requires a stress test, to ascertain whether the device will perform as it is intended under the environmental and operational conditions it is designed for. These stress tests can be complex and lengthy and as such the automation of such tests is preferable. This not only increases the accuracy and certainty of the test but also allows it to be conducted without taking up engineering time.

The purpose of our project ‘Programmable Waveform Generator’ is to enable greater control over device testing, in addition to automating the testing process. Ultimately, bettering the efficiency of device testing throughout development as well as in final verification.
