The ASH team enjoyed speaking today at the Impactech event 'The Impact of Internet of Things on our Lives'. The event sought to look at the impact of the Internet of Things (IoT) on our lives by highlighting four important areas: developments and IoT technologies, applications, connected society and data/security.

Impactech's mission is to support and help the UK to retain its leading position in the electronic systems and technology industry and is a collaborative initiative from The University of Southampton and NMI.

ASH Managing Director Richard Lucas spoke on "The Challenge of Legacy Assets " using our recent involvement in the Celsius project as a case study. "Frequently the most immediate financial return we can get from gathering data from things (and making decisions on that data) is from existing installed assets, rather than new build projects. The problem is that those assets often have not been designed or installed with monitoring in mind. This talk examines such a project in the Electricity Distribution business, and the critical challenges imposed by dealing with the practical problems of what is already installed, rather than assuming a clean sheet of paper."

The slides from his talk are below and further presentations from the other speakers can be found here.
